At Painted Tree, we find inspiration in our unique natural landscape and the creative vibe of our beloved hometown, McKinney, Texas. Pam Shields, our new Community Engagement Officer who will lead the way in activating our trailside community, finds inspiration in our residents themselves.

“My first priority is to begin engaging with and getting to know the residents,” Pam says. “They are the community and their interests and diverse needs will drive our community programming as we continue to grow.”

“Although I come to the job with lots of experience and ideas, I will incorporate what I am learning from the residents with the team’s concept of a back-to-nature, wellness-focused community.”

Wellness is something Pam knows a lot about as a competitive soccer player from the age of 12 and as a two-decades-long business owner in the fitness industry. Which let her put her degree in Business Administration from Youngstown University to work for herself after signing off from an 18-year career in the corporate world.

Like many of Painted Tree’s residents, Pam didn’t grow up in the area. “I decided to move to Texas when my youngest daughter, who lives in Allen, had a baby.”

Moving is something Pam grew accustomed to at an early age. “My dad was in the military, so we moved around a lot, in and out of the country.” However, she was able to call Colorado home for 17 years. She even adopted the Denver Broncos as her favorite sports team.

In addition to sports, Pam is an amateur photographer, although lately most of her photography focuses on her grandkids. She also loves reading and traveling, which explains her outgoing personality and natural curiosity. “I love exploring new countries and cultures.”

It sounds like Painted Tree’s residents are in good hands with Pam. “To be responsible for the development of a community engagement program that revolves around wellness, nature and creativity is very exciting,” she says.
